Motherhood is one of the most demanding time consuming diversified roles in our modern society. However, it is also one of the most under rated under appreciated positions in our culture. In the United States in 1870 an abolitionist named Julia Ward Howe (wrote the battle hymn of the republic) and worked to establish a Mother's Peace Day. In 1907 Anna Jarvis of Philadelphia began the campaign to have Mother's day officially recognized, and in 1914 Woodrow Wilson proclaimed it is a national holiday, and a public expression of our love and reverence for all mother's. Therefore, my prayer is that on any Mother's Day we may all show their same kind of love to our mothers that our Saviour showed to his mother.
Carnations have long been linked from the beginning with Mother's Day. White Carnations were so popular that the florists ran out of them. So instead white carnations came to be worn if your Mother was dead. Red carnations, being more colorful, were worn if your Mother was still alive.
- Proverbs 4:7 (Amplified) says "The beginning of Wisdom is: get Wisdom (skillful and Godly wisdom)! [For skillful and godly Wisdom is the principal thing.] And with all you have gotten, get understanding (discernment, comprehension, and interpretation).
