Christmas
Proverbs 4:7 (Amplified) says "The beginning of Wisdom is: get Wisdom (skillful and Godly wisdom)! [For skillful and godly Wisdom is the principal thing.] And with all you have gotten, get understanding (discernment, comprehension, and interpretation). Most people do not know why they put up a Christmas tree or hang decorations. They do it out of tradition or because everyone else is doing it. They have no idea of the real meaning of the Christams tree.
The Evergreen (Christmas) tree has three corners, and God is three persons: the father, the son, and the Holy Spirit (the Trinity) but is still one God. Long ago, people used evergreen trees to teach others about God. On December 24th they would decorate the evergreen trees with apples and twists of bread, and tell the story of the tree of life in the Garden of Eden. Also, the priest Martin Luther (16th century) saw a beautiful evergreen with icicles sparkling on it. He decided to cut the tree down and take it home, he lit candles and put the candles on the tree. Then he sat his family down and told the story of Jesus who is the light of the world. This is why we put lights and decorations on a tree, and the star at the top of tree symbolizes the star that the wise men followed to find Jesus laying in a manger in Bethlehem. Christmas is not about presents, reindeer, Santa Clause, or any of the things the world has made it all about. Its about the greatest gift ever given, the birthday of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. Easter is not about bunnies or eggs, Thanksgiving is not about a turkey. All holidays celebrate the birth of something. In all your getting, get understanding.
